JMAM- Poetry Workshop

First, local author Jayne Moore Waldrop will lead a community poetry workshop on Tuesday, April 22 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the museum. Previous writing experience is not necessary.

The workshop will be based on Kentucky Poet Laureate George Ella Lyon’s acclaimed poem and international poetry project, “Where I’m From.” The poem is taught in classrooms and communities around the world. Rooted in a study of personal identity, the poem celebrates individuality and prompts a personal exploration of background, home, childhood, upbringing, and family culture. The workshop will also explore haiku, a short-form poetry style that originated in Japan.
