George V. Sholar, III , 78, of Hopkinsville, formerly of Cadiz passed away on October 9, 2025 in St. Louis, MO. He was the son of the late George Vanta Sholar and Vesta Stamps Sholar.
At an early age George accepted Christ and joined Second Baptist Church in Cadiz, KY.
He later became a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
He attended McUpton School and graduated from Trigg County High school.
He served in the United States Air Force as a communication technician. He also attended several universities and colleges and obtained his real estate license and owned several businesses.
George loved his family very much. He had a love for history, especially African American history and spent many years researching African Americans in Trigg County. He also served on many boards and organizations, such as the Kentucky History Society and the African American History organization.
Survivors include five sons, Kai Vashon Daniels, Aaron Briggs, Lamar Hill, Ezra Jeanette, and Noah Jeanette. Three sisters, Dorothy Hopson, Loretta(Kenneth) Howard, and Jeanetta Amorin, grandchildren, Aerieanna Daniels, Amia Daniels, Amari Briggs, Leilani Daniels, Tyrus Daniels, D’Nya Tyree, great grandchildren, Amauri Daniels, Karter Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews and other close relatives and friends, special friends, Dr. Nancy Dawson, Henry Thacker, and Betty Baker Clayton.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Lena Ross, Courtney Harris, Beulah Wesley, Peter, Lemon, Carl, Shelby, and Ralph Sholar.
Funeral service will be held 1:00pm Saturday October 18, 2025 at Bloomfield Baptist Church, Cadiz, Ky. Visitation will began at 11:00am till funeral hour. Burial will be held Monday, October 20, 2025 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Ky.
