This fall could see the end of curbside recycling program in Hopkinsville. The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the first reading of an ordinance ending the program.

click to download audioLess than 10 percent of eligible residents participate in the program, which started in 2012. If the ordinance passes second reading, it will take effect September 30, 2025.
In other business, City Council voted to participate in the Purdue Pharma Direct Settlement. As part of the 7.4 billion dollar settlement, Kentucky is set to receive 73.1 million dollars. Councilman Don Marsh asked what the money would be used for.
