Bro. Terry Mitcheson, age 76, of Cadiz, Kentucky, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from his earthly home in Cadiz.
Raised in Golden Pond, Kentucky, Between the Rivers, he was born on November 29, 1948, in Murray, Kentucky, to the late Holly Mitcheson and Mary Lee Birdsong Mitcheson.
A 1966 graduate of Trigg County High School, Bro. Terry spent many years working in construction. He also proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, exemplifying his dedication to serving others. However, his true calling came on Easter Sunday in 1982 when he surrendered to God’s call to ministry. For 43 years, Bro. Terry dedicated himself to preaching and teaching the word of God, serving as pastor to numerous congregations including Rocky Ridge Baptist and New Light Baptist in Cadiz, Pinckneyville Baptist in Salem, Kevil Baptist, and finally, Ohio Valley Baptist Church in Ledbetter, Kentucky, where he remained a beloved member.
Bro. Terry was known for his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His passion for preaching God’s word took him across the globe with God’s commission to teach to all nations, as he traveled to every continent to spread the Gospel, leaving a lasting impact on many lives. He was a passionate outdoorsman as well, enjoying deer hunting, turkey hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Harrison Mitcheson.
Bro. Terry is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda Boyd Mitcheson, whom he married on July 7, 1967; their three children, Terry Dean Mitcheson of Grand Rivers, KY, Ricky Lee Mitcheson (Hollie) of Louisville, KY, and Charlotte Ann Hinze (Dan) of Indianapolis, IN; seven loving grandchildren, Holly Mitcheson, Bradford Alexander, Davin and Mila Hinze, and Peyton, Reece, and Jaidlyn Mitcheson, a great-grandson, William Alexander; his brother and sister-in-law, Bro. Danny & Linda Mitcheson, and his sister-in-law, Regina Mitcheson, all of Cadiz.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2025. Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 8, 2025, with Bro. Randy Beal and Bro. Danny Mitcheson officiating, and eulogy by his son, Terry Dean Mitcheson. Burial will follow in Cumberland Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes.
