Gene Rogers, age 77, of Cerulean, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Born on October 25, 1947, in Caldwell County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Arlon Rogers and Louise Goodwin Rogers.
Gene was a lifelong farmer, who for 30 years devoted his time to milking cows at Sanders Farms in Cerulean.
He was an avid enthusiast of tractor pulling and wagon mule riding. Gene was the kind of person who never met a stranger, a testament to his outgoing nature; he could strike up a conversation with anyone and often did.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Sue Rogers; his brother, Haydon Rogers; two sons, Mickey Rogers and Randy Rogers; daughter, Kim Utley; and grandson, Michael Shayne Oliver.
He is survived by his children, Larry Dale Rogers (Suzy) of Cerulean, Mark Rogers (Regina) of Rhome, TX, Jimmy Rogers of Cadiz, and Lisa Goodwin (Anthony) of Cerulean; daughter-in-law, Debbie Rogers of Cerulean; 16 grandchildren, Derrick Rogers, Shelbie Rogers (Jacob), Jake Rogers (Brittany), Taylor Southern (Nathan), Trevor Rogers, Karrigan Rogerrs, MaKenzie Rogers, Hunter Rogers, H.D. Rogers, Hailey Rogers, Keeara Handy, Daymere Peterson, Jaymare Peterson, Daniel Riddle, Kim Riddle, and Joshua Blick; and five great-grandchildren, Caiden & Ethan Rogers, Kenzie & Maddie Riddle, and Kylie Marie Handy.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025. Graveside services will be at Cerulean Cemetery, 210 Church Street in Cerulean, at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 19, 2025, with Mr. David Ginn officiating.
