VFW Post 1913 Talks about Freedom And Flags

As Americans across the country celebrate Independence Day, one local veterans’ leader is reminding everyone of the sacrifices behind the fireworks and parades.

For Commander John Brame, July 4th isn’t just another holiday — it’s a reminder of sacrifice, service, and freedom. As head of VFW Post 1913, Brame says the day carries deep meaning for veterans of all generations.

One key service? Flag retirement. The post maintains a disposal box for worn American flags, which are retired with dignity and tradition.
