Larry R. Benskin, age 73, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at UofL Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY, of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Benskin was born in Mexico, MO, on October 30, 1951, the son of the late Ted Benskin and Coral Bea Dillion Benskin. Larry retired from Chirstian County Transportation as the Third-Party Examiner. He was of the Christian Faith and loved family meetings and get togethers. Mr. Social Butterfly loved playing poker, shooting pool, fishing, and going to the casino. He never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Benskin, and his sister, Peggy Mechlin.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Sharon Benskin of Hopkinsville; his son, Larry M. (Tammy) Benskin of Mexico, MO; his daughter, Barbara (Terry Printz) Workes of Mexico, MO; his stepson, Joseph Granger Moore of Oklahoma; his stepdaughter, Mary Lynn Rogers of Oklahoma; his five grandchildren, Tony Benskin of Columbia, MO, Dustin Benskin of St. Charles, MO, Ashley Smith of Moberly, MO, Nikki Woods of North Carolina, Cody Workes of Warsaw, MO; and his seven great grandchildren, Ashtyn Benskin, Ashlynn Smith, Jocelyn Smith, Easton Smith, Terry Martin, Kinley Workes, and Bronsen Workes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN, 38105.
