Man Charged With Fleeing From Law Enforcement In Little River

A Hopkinsville man was charged with fleeing from law enforcement and assaulting his girlfriend on Riverfront Drive Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called for 28-year-old Devontra Burse, who had assaulted his girlfriend, tried to force her into a vehicle, then followed her to the police department.

When officers arrived, he reportedly fled on foot, swimming across Little River before being taken into custody. Police say he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.

Burse was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree stalking, DUI, abandonment of vehicle on public road, and fourth-degree assault.
