Update 4:30 pm: 700 customers remain without power in Hopkinsville. Two crews — from Owensboro and Madisonville — have arrived to assist local linemen. Officials say there will be a power outage for the east part of Hopkinsville beginning at 9 pm, and includes areas around Jeffers Bend, Western Hills golf course, and Hopkinsville airport. Multiple broken utility poles will require replacement, which involves detaching all of the various lines and hardware from the broken pole, drilling the hole for the new pole, and installing it, then transferring all of the old attachments to the new pole. They hope to have the repair completed by 11:30 PM at the latest.
A Facebook post says, “Work continues on restoring power to all of our customers. Even short duration storms like the one last night can do significant damage to the electric system. When utility poles are broken, and trees pull lines down, the repairs can be dangerous, tedious and time consuming. We certainly apolgize for the inconvenience. Rest assured, we are working hard to restore power to all of our customers as quickly as possible.”
