Christian County Public Schools has announced a leadership change at Hopkinsville Middle School for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Principal Andrew Goins will step down from his role, effective June 30. He will transition to an administrative position at Hopkinsville High School as part of the district’s broader efforts to strengthen leadership and support professional growth.

Renikka Owen will assume the role of interim principal at Hopkinsville Middle School beginning July 1. Owen is currently the principal at Millbrooke Elementary and has held that position since 2020. She began her administrative career as assistant principal at Millbrooke in 2015.

A native of Hopkinsville and 2002 graduate of Hopkinsville High School, Owen earned her degree from Western Kentucky University and returned to her hometown to begin her teaching career. Her appointment marks a return to secondary education in a leadership capacity and is seen as a continuation of the district’s focus on student achievement and school community development.

The district credited Goins with successfully overseeing the recent transition of Hopkinsville Middle School to its new campus and uniting students and staff during that process. His move to Hopkinsville High School will allow him to continue contributing to CCPS at a broader level.

Owen’s leadership at Millbrooke Elementary and her connection to the local community were cited as key factors in her selection as interim principal. The district expressed confidence that she will continue to build on the school’s progress and maintain a strong educational environment.
