A Disaster Recovery Center has opened in Christian County to help Kentuckians affected by the April storms, which brought straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides.

The center is located at Murray State University’s Hopkinsville campus, 5305 Ft. Campbell Blvd., in classrooms 207, 209 and 213. It will be open 1 to 7 p.m. CT on April 30, then 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

FEMA representatives are available to explain disaster assistance programs, help with applications and connect survivors with recovery resources. No appointment is needed.

Kentuckians are encouraged to apply for FEMA assistance as soon as possible. The deadline to apply is June 25.

You don’t have to visit a center to apply. To apply online, visit DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA App, or call 800-621-3362. If you use a relay service—such as VRS or captioned telephone—give FEMA your service number.

To apply, you’ll need:

  • A current contact number

  • Your address at the time of the disaster and where you’re staying now

  • Your Social Security number

  • A general list of damages and losses

  • Banking info for direct deposit

  • Insurance policy details, if applicable

To find other recovery center locations, go to fema.gov/drc or text “DRC” and your ZIP code to 43362.
