The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County, in partnership with the Hoptown Chronicle, the Christian County Literacy Council, and the bell hooks Legacy Group, invites the community to the next gathering of the bell hooks Book Club at 6 PM Monday, May 19, at the Pennyroyal Area Museum.
This informal book club brings readers together to explore the life and work of acclaimed cultural critic, feminist icon, and Hopkinsville native bell hooks. The group is currently reading All About Love: New Visions, hooks’s groundbreaking 2000 bestseller that challenges how we understand and practice love in a divided world.
This month’s discussion will cover Chapter 1: “Clarity: Give Love Words” and Chapter 2: “Justice: Childhood Love Lessons.” Future meetings will continue on the third Monday of each month, with each session focusing on subsequent chapters.
Copies of All About Love are available at The Vault by Planters Bank Museum Shop, through the Museums’ Shopify store, at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library, or from Amazon and other major booksellers.
The bell hooks Legacy Group is a grassroots organization dedicated to honoring and amplifying the legacy of hooks, who was born Gloria Jean Watkins in Hopkinsville. Follow @bellhookslegacygroup on Instagram for updates and insights.
