Families in Trigg County can look forward to healthy, free meals for children this summer through the new SUN Meals To-Go program.

Starting June 3, the Trigg County Schools Food Service Department will begin distributing balanced, ready-to-go meals at no cost to families with children 18 and under.

Designed to help bridge the nutrition gap when school is out, SUN Meals To-Go offers easy curbside pickup on June 3, 10, and 17, from 3-5 PM. Families can pick up meals at Horseshoe Drive by the cafeteria off Lafayette Street.

The program, funded in part by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, focuses on rural areas where access to nutritious food can be limited during summer months. According to organizers, SUN Meals To-Go offers more support and better nutrition to ensure no child goes hungry while school is not in session.

For more information, parents and guardians are encouraged to contact Lisa Marsh at (270) 522-2228 or by email at lisa.marsh@trigg.kyschools.us. Details are also available at fns.usda.gov/summer.

This initiative is an equal opportunity provider, and all eligible families are welcome to participate.
