59th Edition Of HCC’s Roundtable Unveiled, Awards Presented

Hopkinsville Community College faculty and students were joined by community members Thursday as the 59th edition of the Roundtable was unveiled.

The unveiling was scheduled for Roundtable Park on the HCC campus, but was moved to the library because of the threat of rain.

HCC Associate English Professor and Roundtable editor Caitlin Chester says she is proud to keep the tradition alive.

In the adult poetry category George Fillingham took first with “Reflections”, Trinitie Ferrell’s “Being A Woman” took second, and Kayla Sapp earned third place with “Why Was She Taken”.

Michael Northup’s “Among the Stars” took first in the fiction category and Joseph Large’s “Purgatory” took second.

In the creative nonfiction division Callie Ewer took first with “A Cup of Coffee”.

Aiden Lewis’ “Bottom of the Ninth” won the drama category.

Skylar Kirby took first in artwork with “Rosey”, Lilly Rux earned second with “Kaitliana”, and Brianna Galan’s “Wonderland” took third.

In the Next Kids division Carolyn Boggess’ “Rachel” took first in the art category.

Ella Simms and Addie Simms tied for first in poetry.

Robbie Kelvey and Alyssa Kelvey tied for first in the comic/graphic novel division.

And in the artwork division Kylee Jane Vowell took first with a bird portrait, Averi Williams took second with a Koi fish, and Eliza McLaughlin earned third place with “Up, Up, and Away”

Copies of the 59th Roundtable were handed out following the ceremony Thursday afternoon.
