Trigg County Hospital President & CEO John Sumner updated his Board of Trustees on a number of fronts Thursday night in Cadiz, blitzing on what continues to be a busy spring — and what will be a busy summer — for the entire campus.
Among the most important notes, Sumner said the main kitchen renovation is complete — thanks to some efficient work from good subcontractors who “worked well, and fast, to get all of that back together.”
The Dr. Bostick Building, he said, is still going to be a new location for HR and medical records, and its renovation is smoothly coming along.
Sumner said he and staff have already met with the Air Evac teams to work on the main parking lot’s lighting, making sure new hardware doesn’t impact sight lines, visibility and/or landing zones, and that’s a project that should go out for bid next week.
Trustees didn’t need to take any action just yet, but Sumner also gave them two different renderings of what the outside might look like for a new EMS and ambulance building.
Furthermore, Sumner added that a desired upgrade for the hospital’s electric generator is going to need a considerable review.
In other hospital news:
— Sumner again praised the hospital’s revamped and improved cardiology department, which continues to see gains since its opening to the public.
— Sumner said that Jamie Slagle, APRN and dermatologist, is expected to arrive this June. Appointments can already be made by calling (270) 350-4328.
— Jodi Wilson, compliance officer, delivered an update on the hospital’s new MRI installation, and as of Thursday, she said builders had sent final requests on modular builds and policies to state officials. Sumner added that the biggest problem with the new MRI is the continual pushback on construction, and with rental costing as much as $30,000 a month, it’s pulling away from some purchasing power.
— And a new ambulance that was supposed to arrive in May is now not coming until August or September. Sumner said two still remain on standby at the Trigg County Road Garage and are ready to use, but they may come online soon, leaving no backups in reserve.
