Charles L. Petty, age 85, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his home of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Brother Jesse Brown officiating and burial to follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Monday, April 28, 2025, from noon until the service time at 2:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Petty was born in Coopertown, TN, on March 24, 1940, the son of the late Lowery S. and Willye P. Fentress Petty. He was the owner for over 30 years of Kentucky American Seeds Inc. In addition, Mr. Petty was the Past President of KY Seed Improvement Association, 1997 Exceptional Community Service Award for Hopkinsville-Christian County, 1998 Hopkinsville Christian County Chamber of Commerce Retail Business of the Year, 2006 Hopkinsville Christian County Agri Business – Friend of Ag Award, 2008 Commonwealth of KY Quality Service Award recipient, 2014 Trigg County Agriculture – Friend of Ag Award, 2023 Christian County Agri Business Distinguished Service Award winner. Mr. Petty was well known for his live radio with local radio stations’ daily board of trade, weather, and agricultural information. Charles was a member of Casky Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Allen Petty, in 2024.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Petty Jenkins (Jerry) of Hopkinsville, KY; his sons Keith Petty of Hopkinsville, KY, David Petty (Kristie) of Hopkinsville, KY; his grandchildren, Jessica Jenkins, Joshua (Macie) Jenkins, Tyler (Lacey) Petty, Tanner Daugherty, and Maci Petty; and his great-grandchildren, Sloan Jenkins, Steele Jenkins, and Tilly Petty.
