Officials with the Cadiz-Trigg County Planning Commission continue to home in on a proper job description, as well as appropriate compensation, for what may become a planning and zoning administrative assistant position within the community.
During Tuesday night’s meeting, soon-to-be group treasurer Rick Clement said the body needed to agree on a list of duties and potential pay, but that he had already drawn up a draft list of expected tasks.
This includes, but is not limited to:
+ Working directly under the chairman of the Cadiz-Trigg County Planning and Zoning Commission, which is currently Tom Lawson
+ Keeping a flexible work schedule, less than eight hours per week but possibly up to 30
+ Conducting site visits to properties discussed in meetings
+ Researching local property records
+ Preparing legal notices for publications in local media
+ Posting needed signage
+ Preparing input for staff reports about zone changes
+ And providing advice to the Planning and Zoning Commission about state and federal regulations
A monthly stipend, Clement said, could also be negotiated.
Once everything is in place, Clement added that he could possibly approach Murray State University or Hopkinsville Community College, to see if an upperclassman needed coursework or work credit in this field.
In other planning news:
— Clement said he would assume treasurer’s duties effective June 1.
— Secretary Jim Mullen confirmed that several commissioners are taking care of needed training hours at Calvert City this Thursday. A new Barkley Shores map has been signed and delivered to the Trigg County Clerk’s Office, and work, though incomplete, continues on a planning and zoning fee increase proposal that will be submitted to Cadiz City Hall likely before the end of May.
— Mullen also confirmed that the Planning Commission now has a copy of the county’s zoning ordinances pertaining to solar farms. Lawson and Mike Heffington elaborated.
Heffington also indicated that, at some point, Trigg County might have address inquiries about zoning spaces for cryptocurrency and mining bitcoin, which requires large draws on electricity. Caldwell County officials, he added, have already had to handle the topic.
— This group is also still seeking someone who can conduct on audit on their finances.
— And the body’s next meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, where a public hearing for annexation of Cadiz will take place. A regular meeting will follow that presentation.
