Two children are credited with calling firefighters and saving a dog from a house fire on Benjamin Lane in Hopkinsville Saturday afternoon.
Philip Eastman says his daughter 11-year-old Abby Eastman and her friend 11-year-old Analiese Austin were selling candles and body scrub at a homemade stand outside of their home when they heard a smoke detector going off in a neighbor’s home and they were able to call firefighters and assisted in saving one dog from the home.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Payton Rogers says when they arrived they found a small fire on the stove and it was quickly extinguished.
Philip Eastman says Abby Eastman and Analiese Austin were selling candles and body scrubs to raise money to have Bon Jovi come play at next year’s Summer Salute.
Rogers says firefighters were also able to get a second dog from the home uninjured adding the fire damage is minimal but the kitchen does have moderate smoke damage.
