David ‘Ike’ Love Jr., 78, of Cadiz

David “Ike” Love, Jr., age 78, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

He was born on February 11, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, to David Love, Sr., and Billie Francis Love.

Ike proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he returned to the States and dedicated his life to his craft as a building contractor and carpenter, eventually joining the team at Cadiz Drywall.

Ike was known for his adventurous spirit. He found joy in traveling, fishing, camping, and spending time on the lake. He also enjoyed the companionship of his beloved cat, Bitty Kitty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David, Sr. & Billie Francis Love, and Bob & Betsy McAfee, as well as a brother, Jimmy McAfee.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lois Wheeler Love, of Cadiz; his children, Jason Love (Michelle), of Montague, NJ, Craig Love (Luna), of Fort Worth, TX, Laura Love (Kelly Rightman), of Fort Worth, TX, Lori Bartley, of Murray, KY, and Christian Prater (Sandra), of Grayson, KY; his grandchildren, Christopher Love, Cody Love, Conner Love, Cheyenne Love, Chelsey Love, and Amie Prater; his great-grandchildren, Lillly, Tannis, and Viviana Love; his siblings, Susan Davis, Margorie Adams, Dreanna (Pearl Nunley), Desi Johnson (Mark), Darrell Wheeler (Carolyn), and Tammi Shaolcross; and a special niece, Miranda Gayle LaPoint.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz.
