Top Position Officially Opens At Trigg Chamber Of Commerce

Officials with the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce opened the application window for their Membership & Events Director position Wednesday morning — showcasing one of the more visible jobs in the community.

Considered a part-time position valued at 90 hours per month, and paid monthly, a hire would have to report to the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

Its core tenants are:
+ The recruitment of new Chamber members
+ The retainment of existing members
+ And the ensuring of businesses receiving value from their investment.

This role, among many tasks, maintains regular member communication, coordinates membership records and supports all major Chamber programs. It also serves as a conduit and primary staff liaison to the Board of Directors, as well as regional partners including the Christian County Chamber of Commerce and the West Kentucky Regional Chamber Alliance.

Core responsibilities also include:
+ The managing of sponsors and business partners within Trigg County
+ The organizing of recruitment and renewal campaigns, while overseeing the Ambassador program
+ The creation and distribution of communication materials, including a weekly email newsletter
+ The supporting of leadership development and training opportunities
+ The handling of sponsor relations, while ensuring fulfilled sponsor benefits
+ The maintaining of positive community relations, while representing the Chamber at civic and governmental meetings
+ The updating of a website, announcements and event calendar
+ The preparing of monthly board agendas, board meetings and reporting of minutes
+ And the overseeing of financial record-keeping, in coordination with the Board Treasurer.

Events and programs planned under the job’s purview also include monthly “Lunch & Learns,” a quarterly Chamber 101 session for new members, and major annual celebrations like the Chamber & Small Business Awards Dinner in June, the late summer Membership Drive, the Country Ham Festival Kick-off Breakfast, a Halloween Safe Night Costume Contest, the Mingle & Jingle Holiday business event, a “Trim the Tree” local healthcare gathering, “Business After Hours” at least twice per year, adult and youth programs for “Leadership Trigg,” and more.

Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication and public relations skills, enthusiasm, and a strong people-oriented approach.

The position requires flexible hours—including some nights and weekends—strong organizational abilities, and the ability to handle multiple projects. Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks and Weebly will be preferred, while reliable transportation with a valid Kentucky driver’s license is required.
