Man Charged With South Main Street Burglary

A homeless man was arrested Tuesday after police were sent to a burglary in progress at a home in Hopkinsville.

Hopkinsville Police report that officers were dispatched to 2414 South Main Street just before 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, after a homeowner called dispatch to report an intruder inside his house who was being held at gunpoint.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers said they discovered Michael McClendon lying naked on the bathroom floor, appearing to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

Officers stated that after detaining and clothing McClendon, they found him in possession of 2 grams of methamphetamine.

He was taken into custody and charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and public intoxication, excluding alcohol. He was booked into the Christian County Jail.
