With Thanksgiving in the rear-view mirror and Christmas just on the horizon, Trigg County Fiscal Court took a few brief moments Monday night to highlight what’s in store for the next two weeks.
No action was taken, but Judge-Executive Stan Humphries confirmed the next two weeks will be plenty busy for his office.
On Monday, December 8, he noted he plans to attend the 2025 Pennyrile Area Development District luncheon at Pennyrile Forest State Park in Dawson Springs. Labeled as the annual Christmas dinner for the nine-county body, it’s also a critical legislative update session and general roundtable for state leaders — who this winter get to ring in the New Year with a gavel into the biennium budget session.
Then, on December 12 around 12:12 PM in Hopkinsville, Humphries said he and others will be among the many regional dignitaries in attendance of the 40th Anniversary Remembrance of the Gander Crash.
An eternal flame and new monument is expected to be revealed, and Humphries added that Trigg County’s slow, but sure, development of the Veteran’s Memorial along US 68/80 and KY 272 near Vinson’s Cemetery can draw inspiration from similar efforts in Christian County and Fort Campbell.
When magistrates and Humphries next convene Monday, December 15, Humphries said to expect a “lengthy” meeting, in which a year-in-review and a look-ahead-to-2026 are expected to be presented, as well as some other end-of-year notations to be made.
Humphries also confirmed that the Trigg County Recreation Complex’s new concession stand is complete and in well order, and the reimbursement process of the Land & Water Conservation grant is still underway.
And as of October 31, Trigg County Fiscal Court held an unencumbered cash balance of more than $931,000.
