Two Greenville men were charged with possession of drugs after a traffic stop on Canton Road in Trigg County Friday night.
Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say they stopped a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Dewayne Stanley for his license plate not being illuminated, and could smell the odor of marijuana and alcohol.
During the stop, Stanley reportedly told deputies there was a gun in the vehicle, and his passenger, 45-year-old Jonathan Croft, was found to be a convicted felon.
Deputies say after a search of the vehicle and their belongings, meth, a THC cigarette, and a glass smoking pipe were found.
Stanley reportedly told law enforcement that Croft was not aware there was a gun in the vehicle.
Stanley was arrested and charged with possession of meth, rear license plate not illuminated, and failure to produce an insurance card. Croft was also arrested and charged with possession of meth and marijuana.
