Tuesday Could Bring Marginal Risk of Severe Weather

The Storm Prediction Center has placed western Kentucky and especially the Pennyrile Region under a marginal risk of severe weather on Tuesday afternoon, with heavy rain possible on Thursday and Friday.

Keith Cooley, a lead forecaster with the National Weather Service, says Tuesday’s severe storm chances could bring hail and a possible tornado.

click to download audioTuesday should drop about a half-inch of rain before a break on Wednesday. Cooley says the rain amounts will increase on Thursday and Friday to between 1 and 2 inches.

click to download audioTemperatures should stay in the 60s this week and cool into the 50s for Thanksgiving week. While Cooley says it’s still too early to predict the weather accurately for the Thanksgiving weekend, he says the models show a warm day on Black Friday and a 20-30-degree temperature drop on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
