A wreck on Interstate 24 in Nashville killed a Hopkinsville man Thursday afternoon.
Nashville Police say 72-year-old Smitty P’Pool, who was a passenger in a vehicle that had two flat tires, was trying to find a mile marker to give a wrecker service when he was hit.
The driver of the vehicle that he was in reportedly stated that motorists stopped, got out of their vehicles, and then drove off.
Police say that after the crash, someone called in who thought they had hit a deer, but crash investigators do not believe that the driver who called in struck P’Pool first.
Nashville Police ask any witnesses to the crash to call 615-862-7738. P’Pool’s name was released by the Trigg County Coroner’s Office.
