Man Charged With Assaulting A Police Officer During DUI Arrest

A Hopkinsville man was charged with DUI and assault of a police officer on South Campbell Street Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Terry Harris after his vehicle crossed the centerline, and during the stop, they could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.

After a field sobriety test, he was arrested and reportedly became confrontational with officers before kicking one officer while at the jail.

Police say in a separate call, on Friday, Harris was involved in a disturbance on Durrert Avenue with a woman and tried to hit her with a vehicle.

The woman was reportedly able to get away from him uninjured.

Harris is charged with menacing, third-degree terroristic threatening, DUI, third-degree assault of a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree stalking, resisting arrest, and several other violations.
