I-24 Work Continuing at Calvert City Exit

Traffic will continue to be hampered a bit on I-24 in the Calvert City area over the next few weeks.

The state transportation cabinet announced overnight closures at Exit 27, the Kentucky Dam/Calvert City exit, on Monday and Tuesday. Temporary barrier walls will be moved and pavement striping updated, shifting traffic to the right.

To do this work, I-24 will be temporarily blocked at the bridge over U.S. 62 at Exit 27, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night. The I-24 eastbound on-ramp at U.S. 62 near Love’s Travel Stop will also be blocked.

Detours will be in place with law enforcement and flaggers guiding traffic.

This phase of work is expected to continue through mid-December, weather permitting.

Meanwhile, daytime lane restrictions have been lifted on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge two miles east of Calvert City.

Corrective work was completed on Thursday.
