Martin Larmont McGlothan, affectionately known as “Bam,” slept peacefully away on November 1, 2025.
Martin was born on April 15, 1968, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Mr. James and Mrs. Laura Mae McGlothan. Martin accepted Christ at an early age. He was an alumnus of Hopkinsville High School. After graduating from high school, Martin enlisted in the United States Army and served multiple tours in Afghanistan.
He later moved to Raleigh, NC, where he was the Market Meat Manager for 20 years at Food Lion and The Fresh Market Corporation. Martin was a vibrant man with a big heart. He had a personality like no other. He was well-loved by everyone, especially the kids. “Marty Mar “ loved the children, his friends, and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. James and Mrs. Laura Mae McGlothan, Grandparents, Mr. Hosea and Mrs. Margaret Brown, and Sister, Twanna McGlothan. He leaves to cherish his Sisters: Rosita McGlothan, Maya (Gary) Bowman, Monike (Leroy) Love, all of Hopkinsville, Ky, Maria Houghton of Frankfort, Ky, and LeCythinia McGlothan of North Richland Hills, Tx. Devoted uncle Hozie (Denise) Brown of Jeffersonville, IN, a host of nieces and nephews, one great-nephew, four great-nieces, three truly devoted friends Donna Peterson, Sandra Chiles, and Dewit Poindexter, a special loving cousin Reginald Radford, and all of his Tik-Tok family.
Taylor’s Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of the arrangements.
A wake will be held on Friday at Taylor’s Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 pm. Visitation will be Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10 am until noon at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Saturday at noon at the church with burial on Monday at 10:00 am at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
