Janine Carol Reed, age 62, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at her home in Cadiz.
She was born on March 3, 1963, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to the late Dallas and Jeanette Reed and beloved adoptive parents, the late Howard and Vivian Keppley. She spent her earliest years traveling with Howard and Vivian while he served in the military, but moved home to Pennsylvania when Howard passed away. The biggest portion of her childhood was spent with her big brother David and their cousins who all loved them dearly and shared so many happy memories together.
Janine was married twice which gave her an even bigger family to love, her heart was so full of pride and joy for her children and children of friends, many of whom loved her like a second mother.
She earned her degree in business and lived every day looking toward the future: planning her path, scratching out new business ideas, and finding ways to improve the lives of the people around her. She enjoyed antiquing and road trips, especially with her best friend Vicki. Her passion for history was as potent as her aversion to boredom, so after proving herself successful as a business owner, her goal later in life was to find the next enterprise that could keep her hands busy and her imagination satisfied.
Janine is survived by her children, Lucas Silfies of Cadiz, Katie Moyer (Alex Arzamastsev) of Dawson Springs, Kentucky, Sommer Silfies (Sara) of Evansville, Indiana, Tanya Lanser (Dave) of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, and Wesley Moyer of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, Ayla, Arkady and Juliana; and her brother, David Reed (Rhonda) of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania.
A celebration of life to honor Janine will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 1-4 PM, at Casey Jones Distillery, 2815 Witty Lane, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where friends are welcome to drop in anytime. At a later date her family will honor her with a burial service in the Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, Pennsylvania.
