In an effort to fight hunger, Food Lion is expanding its efforts to help families make the most of their grocery budgets this holiday season.
Through the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation, $1 million is being donated to food banks across the company’s 10-state service area, continuing its mission to reduce food insecurity and provide relief for families in need.
Company president Greg Finchum said Food Lion remains committed to being a dependable neighbor — not only by offering affordable groceries but by ensuring every family has access to fresh, healthy food and community support.
From November 1–4, customers can join the effort by donating at checkouts to the Food Bank Fund, with proceeds directly benefiting local food banks. Since 2001, the Foundation has awarded nearly $23 million in hunger-relief grants.
The grocer is also introducing several seasonal programs:
From November 5 through December 9, the Holidays Without Hunger Campaign will allow customers to purchase and donate a $6 holiday food box, providing meals through Feeding America® and local partners. Since 2014, the effort has supplied more than 73 million meals.
On November 11, active-duty military and veterans will receive a 10% in-store discount with MVP card and military ID.
And through November 26, the MVP Fall Haul allows shoppers to earn a $20 coupon by making six trips of $50 or more using their MVP card.
Food Lion’s Food Lion Feeds initiative has provided more than 1.5 billion meals since 2014 and aims to reach 3 billion by 2032.
The News Edge listening area’s closest Food Lion store is on 4305 Canton Pike in Hopkinsville.
