William ‘Billy Ray’ Thompson, 73, of Hopkinsville

William Ray “Billy Ray” Thompson, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Born in Hopkinsville, William was the son of the late John Price “Sonny” Thompson and Mildred Jean (Hicks)Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Keith Thompson.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Cox “Sandi” Thompson, of Hopkinsville; his son, John William Thompson (Andrew), of Hopkinsville; and a host of extended family members and friends who will forever honor and cherish his memory.

William served for more than four decades as Office Manager of his family’s business, Thompson and Perkins Service Station, located in downtown Hopkinsville. Admired for his dedication, warmth, and kind-hearted nature, he earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike and took great pride in his work and service to the community.

He was a devoted son, providing tireless and selfless care to his mother, Mildred Jean Thompson—a reflection of his deep familial loyalty and steadfast sense of duty.

A lifelong resident of Christian County, William was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hopkinsville. He enjoyed golf, was an avid sports fan, and valued time spent in the company of family and friends. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Grace Episcopal Church, 216 East 6th Street, Hopkinsville, Kentucky with Rev. Stephen Spicer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour. Burial at Riverside Cemetery following the funeral.
