In a written letter to the News Edge, Tara Rhodes wanted to explain why she and the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce opted to mutually part ways — following the expiration of a year-long contract at the helm.

Rhodes said that when she first moved to Cadiz, it was because of the wonderful experiences she had embraced during the 400 Mile Sale. Those experiences, she added, were reinforced when she began working with the Antique Trail in early 2024.

She called Cadiz true “Trail Town” — full of friendly, hard-working, business-savvy people — and that over the past four years, traveling all 400 miles of Highway 68, she saw many communities, but none quite like Trigg County.

Six months after that Antique Trail experience, she said she was “blessed” with the opportunity to serve as director of the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce. It’s truly been a privilege, she said, to meet so many good people in this business community — not only to help promote them, but to learn from them, as well.

During her time as director, Hall said she learned that she wanted to dedicate even more time to sales, marketing, promotion and public relations to help small businesses grow. Following contract renewal discussions, she added that she took time to “think and pray about” where her focus should be, and that in the end, her professional path is simply moving in a different direction than the Chamber.

A hard decision, she also wrote, but one that came from a place of “gratitude and hope.”

Rhodes also said she isn’t leaving, because Trigg County is the perfect combination of “faith, farm, family, friendship and lakes” — with a “vibrant business community that’s second to none.”

In the short term, she will be doubling down on her work with the Antique Trail, and she is also exploring new ways to stay connected locally and professionally with a focus on consulting, sales, marketing, promotion and public relations.
