Christian County Public Schools has named two new student representatives to serve on the district’s Board of Education.

At Thursday’s Board meeting, officials announced that Christian County High School senior K’Veon Ivory and Hopkinsville High School senior Karla Quintanilla were selected by their peers to serve as non-voting student members for the 2025–26 school year.

The two will attend monthly Board meetings, take part in official school events, give presentations, and share student perspectives with Board members. While they will not vote or participate in closed sessions, their input is designed to help district leaders better understand student experiences.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel said the initiative—now in its fourth year—keeps student voices central to the district’s decision-making. He added that student board members continue to provide valuable insight and reflect CCPS’s commitment to treating students as partners in shaping the district’s future.

Ivory, the son of Shaterra Babb and Kortez Ivory, is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Student Superintendent Advisory Council, HOSA, KYA, the Black Student Union, and basketball. He also serves as both a CCPS and Gateway Ambassador and is enrolled in the Health Sciences Academy at Gateway Academy.

Quintanilla, the daughter of Digna Pineda, participates in Beta Club and HOSA and plays soccer for Hopkinsville High. A second-year member of the Superintendent Student Advisory Council, she also works at Chick-fil-A and runs her own nail business, handling marketing and client scheduling herself. She, too, is part of the Health Sciences Academy at Gateway Academy.

Christian County Schools launched its student board representative program in 2022, joining several other Kentucky districts in giving students a formal voice in education leadership. Both students were sworn in Thursday night and will serve through the 2025–26 academic year.
