Just 12 hours after finishing testimony against his father, Kendall Spikes was officially sentenced in Christian County Circuit Court Friday morning — his ankle monitor removed, and 10 years’ probation delivered for his involvement in the December 2021 murders of Candace Marcel and Stanley Bussell.
Judge John Atkins and special prosecutor Blake Chambers discussed the setting.
That complication Chambers was referring to is the fact that Spikes revealed a fourth different timeline of events actually occurred on the night of December 8 going into December 9, where a visit to Princeton was also part of the Hopkinsville-Bowling Green-Clarksville itinerary.
Atkins also expressed his dismay in this part of the trial’s proceedings.
Atkins found him guilty of complicity to tampering with physical evidence, as well as hindering prosecution and/or apprehension first-degree, while paying $210 in court costs over the next 90 days.
Defense attorney Sands Chewning also offered Spikes some advice.
If Spikes re-offends, he could face the full 10 years in prison.
