Considerable analysis and discussion defined Wednesday and Day 3 of the Bobby Spikes trial in Christian County Circuit Court.
But Thursday morning and afternoon entailed FBI testimony and closing arguments for defense attorney Jason McGee and special prosecutor Blake Chambers, before jurors went into deliberations at 2:33 PM.
At 4:40 PM, jurors emerged with a verdict, issuing that Spikes is:
+ Guilty of the murder of Stanley Bussell
+ Guilty of the murder of Candace Marcel
+ Guilty of the robbery of Bussell and Marcel
+ Guilty of tampering with physical evidence
+ And not guilty of kidnapping Marcel.
Verdicts were unanimous. Circuit Judge John Atkins, however, said jurors still have the responsibility to listen to new evidence on a new count, and must render judgment there.
Atkins asked all jurors to report back to the courtroom at 5 PM.
Spikes committed the crimes in December 2021.
This is a developing story, with much more coming Friday morning.
