A Hopkinsville man and woman were charged with theft after tools were taken from a Hopkinsville business Tuesday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say 48-year-old Datorian Caswell took numerous DeWalt power tools from Rural King valued at over $2,000.
He reportedly got into a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Tiemesha Merritt, who drove him there and helped him get away with the stolen items.
Police say they were both located in the vehicle on Copperfield Avenue with the stolen tools.
Merritt reportedly had a DUI-suspended license and no insurance. Police say Caswell had bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol on his breath.
Caswell is charged with theft by unlawful taking, alcohol intoxication in a public place, and failure to notify address change to the department of transportation. Merritt was charged with complicity to theft by unlawful taking, driving on a DUI-suspended license, and failure to maintain required insurance.
