Christian County Public Schools is organizing a gift card drive to support Chase Pemberton, a 2020 Hopkinsville High School graduate who is battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Chase is the son of Don and Laurie Pemberton. His mother serves as the Family Resource and Youth Services Center coordinator at Crofton Elementary.

After being diagnosed earlier this year, Chase recently received news that he has been matched with a donor for a bone marrow transplant. In the coming days, he will travel to Houston, where he will remain for several months to receive treatment.

To assist Chase and his family, the district is collecting gift cards to places such as Walmart, Target, DoorDash, UberEats, Zaxby’s, Chick-fil-A, or general Visa cards. Each month, the district will hold a “Chase-ing Victory” week for collections. The cards will then be gathered and mailed to Chase and his mother, who will be staying with him as his caregiver.

Community members can drop off gift cards at the CCPS Central Office, 200 Glass Avenue, or at any Family Resource and Youth Services Center in district schools. The first collection drive runs Monday, September 15 through Friday, September 19.
