Janice “Bear” Kaye Edwards Whitney, age 61, of Hopkinsville passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville of natural causes.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Green Hill Memorial Gardens with burial to follow. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mrs. Whitney was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on August 15, 1964, the daughter of Peggy Joiner Mitchell and the late JW Edwards. Janice retired from TJ’s Laundry as a manager. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Terry Keith Whitney in 2005.
Survivors include her daughters, Brandy Whitney (Richard Catlett) of Hopkinsville and Rebecca (Noah) Hurt of Hopkinsville; her grandchildren, Angelesha Whitney, Jakyah Collins, J’Lani Moore, Purcy Springer, Parris Turner, Hailee Haddock, Aiden Manns, and Gavin Turner; her great grandchildren, Keh’lani Watson, Elizarayne Wells; her mother, Peggy Mitchell of Hopkinsville; her brother, Johnnie Edwards of Hopkinsville; her sister-in-law, Tammy Cook of Hopkinsville; her step-mother, Tina Edwards of Hopkinsville; her stepbrother and stepsisters.
