The Trigg County Special Olympics won the state championship Sunday morning.
The Special Olympics team was welcomed back to Cadiz with an escort by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department early Sunday afternoon. The team won the state championship Sunday morning after advancing to finals by winning their game Saturday in the semi-final round. The state tournament was held at Jack Fisher Park in Owensboro this weekend.
The recent softball game between the City of Cadiz and Trigg County Government helped fund the trip to the state tournament. The second annual game raised $2,600. The Cadiz Hambone Hitters won the game over the county team by a score of 19 to 1.
