A Crofton man was charged with assaulting his girlfriend on Rabbit Ridge Road in Christian County on Tuesday afternoon.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say 72-year-old Paul Merriweather hit his girlfriend in the back with a hammer, held a knife to her neck, and threatened to kill her.
Deputies say Merriweather showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and third-degree terroristic threatening.
