Trail Of Tears Pow Wow Returns To Hopkinsville This Weekend

Hopkinsville will once again host the 38th Annual Trail of Tears Pow Wow on September 6–7 at the Trail of Tears Commemorative Park.

The two-day cultural celebration begins each morning with gates opening at 10 a.m. and a grand entry at 1 p.m.

The event will feature a weekend of traditional Native American dancing, with visitors invited to join during Intertribal dances. A sensory-friendly environment will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon each day, making the experience accessible for all.

In addition to dancing, the Heritage Center will provide free crafts and face painting for children. Hourly raffles, including free T-shirts, will run throughout the weekend. On Saturday, guests can enjoy flute playing and storytelling from 4 to 5 p.m.

Food will also be a highlight, with vendors offering fry bread, Indian tacos, buffalo burgers, and other Native and local favorites. Local nonprofits and craftsmen are encouraged to set up displays at the Heritage Center with prior approval.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 7–12, while kids 6 and under are free. Parking is also free.

Organizers say the Pow Wow is an opportunity to celebrate Native traditions, support local charities, and enjoy family-friendly activities.
