The City of Hopkinsville is bringing back the Mayor’s Community Awards this fall to honor local residents and organizations who make a difference behind the scenes.

Now in its second year, the program will highlight contributions in five categories: Small Business, Non-Profit, Volunteer, Education, and City Employee. The awards are designed to recognize individuals and groups who strengthen Hopkinsville without seeking the spotlight.

Nominations opened Tuesday, and will be accepted through 2 p.m. on Friday, September 19. Community members are encouraged to submit entries in one or more categories, with each nomination requiring a short essay of 250 words or less explaining why the individual or organization deserves recognition.

Forms are available online at hopkinsvilleky.us/community-awards, through the City of Hopkinsville’s social media pages, or in person at City Hall, located at 715 South Virginia Street.

Award winners will be announced at a special reception in October, where city leaders will join residents in celebrating the positive impact of those chosen.
