Hopkinsville Fire Department has something extra to smile about heading into the Labor Day weekend.
Lieutenant Nathan Stewart has been recognized nationally by the National Information Officers Association (NIOA), receiving the “Best Use of Humor Award” for a creative video featuring members of Battalion 1.
The honor places Hopkinsville on the national stage, as Stewart’s video was selected from more than 100 submissions. The piece highlights the camaraderie and spirit within the fire department, showing that even in one of the most serious professions, humor can be a powerful way to connect.
“Public safety is a serious responsibility, but humor is one of the ways we stay connected as a team and with the community,” Stewart said. “It’s an honor to be recognized nationally, but more importantly, it’s a joy to bring a little laughter to the people we serve.”
Mayor Knight praised the achievement, calling it a reminder of the humanity and good humor of Hopkinsville’s first responders.
