Red Cross To Host Regional Disaster Preparedness Exercise

The American Red Cross is hosting a regional exercise in Elkton on Saturday, September 6, at Petrie Memorial Methodist Church.

Event organizer Jason Dotson told Your News Edge that this event is a chance to develop relationships that could help the organization after future disasters.

Dotson, the Community Disaster Program Manager for the south-central chapter of the American Red Cross, shared the importance of being prepared.

He added that there is a process that must be followed before a church or other building can be considered an emergency shelter.

The training on Saturday morning, September 6th, will begin at 9:00 at Petrie Memorial Methodist Church in Elkton. The training will last up to three hours.

Preregistration is not necessary for the training, but you can call Dotson at (270) 201-4177 for more information.
