The Kentucky Bar Foundation will honor former Circuit Judge Woody Woodall with the 9th Annual Edward H. Johnstone Award on Tuesday, November 18, at Walker Hall Event Center in Paducah.

Cocktails begin at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

The award recognizes Kentucky attorneys and judges who have shown exceptional commitment to the legal profession and community service. Judge Woodall was selected for his decades of service as a lawyer, judge, mediator, and civic leader.

Woodall served as Circuit Judge of the 56th Judicial Circuit, covering Caldwell, Livingston, Lyon, and Trigg counties, from 2007 until his retirement in 2022. He previously practiced law for nearly 30 years after graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1974.

During his career, he was active in numerous legal organizations, including the American Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, and Kentucky Counsel of School Board Attorneys. He also worked nearly 20 years as a mediator and arbitrator.

Outside the courtroom, Woodall has been a longtime civic leader. He was active in the Cadiz Rotary Club for more than 25 years, serving as both president and board member. He also held leadership roles with the Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce, Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist Commission, Boy Scouts Troop 57, and the Trigg County UK Alumni Association.

He and his wife, retired Caldwell County teacher Teresa McAtee Woodall, are the parents of five grown children and have 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The event will celebrate Judge Woodall’s career while supporting the Kentucky Bar Foundation’s mission to strengthen justice and expand access to the legal system. Proceeds will benefit nonprofits across Kentucky that serve children, families, and vulnerable populations.

Tickets and sponsorships are available through Monday, November 3, at Eventbrite or by contacting KBF Executive Director Susan Duncan at sduncan@kybar.org.
