Construction is well underway at Exit 27 off I-24 in Calvert City, where Churchill Downs Incorporated is developing Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming.

The $40–$50 million project will be the company’s eighth historical horse racing entertainment venue in the state, and will operate as an extension of Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel in Christian County.

The 23,000-square-foot facility will include 250 historical racing machines, a sports bar, retail sportsbook, simulcast wagering and multiple dining options. Strategically located at the intersection of I-24 and U.S. 62, Marshall Yards is expected to draw visitors from Kentucky Lake, Land Between the Lakes and the surrounding region.

Officials have said the project will provide a major economic boost, creating 250 construction jobs and 90 permanent full-time positions once it opens in early 2026.

Churchill Downs estimates it will generate around $4 million in annual wages for local workers, alongside $45 million in annual regional economic impact.

Community leaders said the development underscores Calvert City’s prime location and will expand tourism, strengthen the tax base and attract new investment.

Marshall Yards will also extend Oak Grove’s rewards program, allowing guests to use benefits across both locations.
