Arrest Made In Mayfield-Graves County Football Game Shooting

The Mayfield Police Department says an arrest has been made in connection with a shooting incident Friday night at the Mayfield-Graves County football game.

According to a news release from the department a 14-year-old male from Fulton, KY, was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree. The shooting occurred Friday night in Mayfield during the fourth quarter of the “Battle of the Birds” high school football game.

The suspect shot 18-year-old Jordan Riley from Farmington, KY. Riley suffered a serious gunshot wound to his arm and upper torso. Riley was airlifted to an out of state hospital where he is currently in stable condition.

The Mayfield Police investigation determined the shooting happened when Riley allegedly got into a fight with another juvenile. During the fight, the 14-year-old suspect fired the shot that hit Riley. The suspect is now being held at a juvenile detention facility.
