The City of Hopkinsville will hold a public hearing on the 2025-2026 Property Tax Rate September 16th. City Chief Financial Officer, Melissa Clayton presented her recommendation to the Committee of the Whole Thursday night.
The 2025 compensating rate is 19.5 cents per $100 and the maximum rate allowable by KRS 132.027 if 20.2 cents per $100. This will mean an increase in city revenue, while most property owners will see a decrease in their bills, according to Clayton.
In order to meet deadlines for the October distribution, City Council will vote September 16th on the first reading and September 18th on the second reading.
