While the Hopkinsville Recycling program will be going away at the end of next month, it could come back as a private service. Tuesday night, Hopkinsville City Council heard the second reading of the ordinance to shutter the program.
click to download audioCouncilman Travis Martin’s motion came after a citizen addressed the importance of the program to her during public comments. This led to a lengthy discussion about the program and its viability, which Solid Waste Board Chair Wendell Lynch says is losing money annually.

At the end of the meeting, Councilman Chuck Crabtree moved to have the city reach out to the third party that runs Bowling Green’s recycling program to get information for the council about doing the same in Hopkinsville.
