Sarah Bush “Sadie” Bardwell, 96, of Hopkinsville, KY passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2025 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Spurlin officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Bardwell was born December 3, 1928 in Nashville, TN and moved to Clarksville, TN at a young age. She was the daughter of the late Clem Tyne Bush and Elizabeth Fox Bush. She was a homemaker, a Kentucky Colonel, and a graduate of Austin Peay State University. While in high school, she was a member of the Civil Air Portal and soloed in a Piper Cub. Sarah was a member of Lester Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder for many years. She was an avid bridge player and loved to travel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Newton Romey Bardwell, Jr., and her sister, Bettye B. Bell.
Survivors include her sons: Romey (Debbie) Bardwell III of Hopkinsville, KY and Tyne Bardwell of Wharton, NJ; her daughter: Sarah (Alan) Cousar of Covington, TN; her grandchildren: Susanne (Ryan) McLaughlin, Josh Bardwell, Bradley (Lindsay) Bardwell, Jesse Bardwell, William (Zoë) Loren, and Sarah Elizabeth (Graham) Poston; and eight great grandchildren.
